455 | Benjamin Hawley Jr. was admitted into membership at Bradford Meeting, 1 mo. 15, 1756, and was married there, 4 mo. 22, 1756, to Mary, daughter of Robert Johnson, of East Bradford, said to have been from England, and Katherine (Knott) Johnson, his wife. They settled on his farm in East Bradford, just across the Brandywine from his brother Joseph. They had fourteen children: 1. Caleb, born 4 mo. 23, 1757; married Hannah Battin, 5 mo. 30, 1782. 2. Thomas, born 12 mo. 6, 1758; died 4 mo. 17, 1781, unmarried. 3. Joseph, born 6 mo. 6, 1760; died 10 mo. 5, 1856; see forward. 4. Robert, born 3 mo. 28, 1762; married Patience Yearsley, 11 mo. 21, 1787. 5. Rachel, born 8 mo. 3, 1763; married Arthur McCann. 6. Hannah, born 4 mo. 7, 1766; unmarried in 1807. 7. Mary, born 9 mo. 2, 1767; married John Ingram. 8. Lydia, born 2 mo. 28, 1769; died 12 mo. 28, 1770. 9. Susanna, born 9 mo. 11, 1770; married Elisha Davis, 12 mo. 12, 1793. 10. Tamer, born 5 mo. 2, 1772; married Joshua Hicklin, 12 mo. 17, 1801. 11. Rebecca, born 1 mo. 9, 1774; died 3 mo. 18, 1859, unmarried. 12. 460 | BOLIVAR FREE PRESS July 3, 1884. Mrs Lucy A. Gunn, wife of Carver Gunn died at the residence of her son R.B. Gunn a few miles west of Bolivar on 21 Jun, 1884. Mrs. Gunn's maiden name was Owen. She was a native of Connecticut, having been born near Hartford in the year 1812. When she was about three years old, her parents emigrated to "the far west" as going to Ohio, settling near the Scioto River. Subsequently, the family moved to Illinois, where in 1838, the deceased married Carver Gunn. The next year they moved to Southwest Missouri and settled in Lawrence County. They lived there some twelve years. and then moved to Polk. Mrs. Gunn had been in poor health for some years and her death was not unexpected. She is survived by her husband, now lacking only a few days of being eighty-five years of age, and six children, for of whom are well-known residents of Polk County, viz; O.D., H.C. and R.B. Gunn and Mrs Betty Reed. Two daughters, Mrs. Eliza Pease and Mrs. Adeline Hadlock who live in Kansas. | Owen, Lucy Arvilla (I3366)

488 | CHESTER R. SHULTES DEAD. Chester R. Shultes, seventy-seven, life long resident of New York state, died at the home of his son La Mont Shultes, in this village, Monday morning. His wife, Mrs. De Ida M. Shultes, died last month. Mr. Shultes is survived by three sons, La Mont and Clyde and Glenn Shultes of Buffalo; two daughters, Mrs. Newell W. Canfield of Albany and Mrs. William Whitmeyer of Cattaraugus, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Ransom of Springville, and Mrs. Flora Barnard of Rochester. Funeral services were held from the home of the son in this village Wednesday afternoon and were private.
